8 Old Time Nostalgic Candy Favorites

Reminiscing back to our childhood days brings back many memories and how we all wish we could relive those days again, right? In the modern age that we are living in, it is good to know there are still some things that have remained unchanged over the decades. And what better way is there to relive those childhood memories than to indulge ourselves with some nostalgic candy?
Nostalgic candy not only satisfies our taste buds, but most importantly, it brings back the youth in us. I am certain that each and every one of us has our own personal favorites but here's my pick of the best nostalgic candy still readily available. 
  1. Nerds Candy. This candy comes in a variety of flavors including wild cherry, watermelon, grape and strawberry and is definitely a wonkalicious creation. The tangy taste and tiny but crunchy texture of this candy is just amazing and is far too good for anyone to resist the temptation.

  2. Tootsie Rolls. Chewy chocolate candies which are usually wrapped in wax paper. This candy has been manufactured for over 100 years and is truly one of the most classic candies of all time.

  3. Walnettos. These chewy and soft caramel candies are filled with California walnuts and it has been the candy of choice since the 1920s. In the United States, Walnettos were considered to be the top selling candies and featured in the popular comedy program entitled "Laugh-In".

  4. Hershey's Kisses. These are one of the most popular brands of candy in the USA today and have been manufactured for more than 100 years. They are elegantly wrapped chocolate pieces with a strip of paper that says "kiss". One piece of this delicious chocolate melts in your mouth and will leave you wanting more.

  5. Bazooka Bubble Gums. This chewing gum was introduced to the world right shortly after the end of World War II. The Strawberry flavor became a hit and is the most favored flavor. You will also notice how patriotic the packaging is with its color combination of red, white and blue.

  6. Licorice Candy. This old-fashioned and twisted candy has been marked as an all-time favorite of many generations. It has a soft and chewy texture and on top of that has the smell of the licorice extract.

  7. Cherry Mash. Made from chopped roasted nuts with chocolate coating and cherry fondant in the center it is also considered to be one of the earliest well known candies dating back to World War I. From Cherry Chase, the candy's name was changed to Cherry Chaser and later on, it was finally named as the Cherry Mash.

  8. Nik L Nip. This is certainly a catchy name, right? Nik L Nips were created in the early 1900s and are made out of wax bottles which are filled with different fruit flavors. The name originated by combining the cost of a "Nickel" and the method in which the wax bottle was opened, which was to "Nip" off its top.
Childhood has to be one of the most fun and exciting times of our lives. As we grow older. We can always reminisce on our childhood by simply grabbing a pack of nostalgic candy. After all, it is always nice to treat ourselves once in a while.
